Do you ever wonder why campaigns like BUY LOCAL, THINK LOCAL FIRST, SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS, have been heavily promoted lately?  Communities around the country as well as research and marketing firms realize the power of spending at a local business and the ripple effect that it creates throughout that community.
A study conducted by Andersonville Development Corporation in Chicago shows that for every $100 spent at a national chain only $43 stays in the community. If that same $100 is spent at locally owned independent stores $68 stays in the community.
